The Benefits of grounding.

I’m a massive believer in energy is everywhere and when we connect with nature not only is it beautiful to see but it’s beautiful to feel. I really do think that one of the reasons I’m addicted to sea swimming is that I’m wrapped in something so full of positive energy. You just feel it in your mind, body and soul.

Grounding or earthing as some call it is not a new fad or hippy thing to do it’s actually been practised for thousands of years. It’s been part of many cultures for a very long time.

Today from living in high rise buildings and wearing synthetic shoes we have disconnected from the earth. There has been a lot of studies on grounding showing that when we don’t charge our bodies regularly with the earths bio electricity we can start to have physical and physiological problems and the ageing processes can be accelerated.

Grounding is very simple to do and can take ten minutes a day to achieve. You just need to have contact with the earths electrons. Anything where you have bare feet or skin that is connected to the earth. It just needs to flow through the body. Whether it’s grass, mud, sand, even concrete. Walking bare foot is a good start but even laying on the ground, natural water swimming, laying or sitting on the beach or gardening with bare hands will give you the desired effect. There are even grounding mats these days that you can buy if you have problems being outdoors.

Personally when I walk bare foot on the grass or in the sand or stones whilst walking into the sea I feel very energised, lifted, positive, happy, calm, and connected. The benefits of grounding are many. Below I will list a few…

Reducing inflammation in the body.

Improving sleep.

Decreasing stress.

Decreasing pain.

Improving cortisol levels.

Balancing heart rate.

Healing wounds.

Improved heart rate.

The list is endless.

When we walk bare foot we are actually like reflexology ( one of my loves ) pushing on nerve endings connected to zones in the body. When these nerve endings are pushed we are actually stimulating the system to work as it should. Calming the nervous system, improving circulation, relaxing us internally and aiding good sleep. All things vital for good health.

Even when you are sitting in the garden or somewhere outside slip your shoes off and get the souls of your feet in direct contact with the earth. You make like it. Although subtle you may feel instantly the benefits of grounding. I hope you do.
